WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

We are pleased that James is on site and are traditionally trained, dedicated to the feeling of health and ready to help you now.

Traditional Oriental Medicine is a complete healing system that appreciates all life forms as an integration of body, mind, emotion and spirit and a delicate balance of two polar yet complementary forces called Yin and Yang.
Running through our bodies are networks of energy channels that circulate our life force called Qi. Our body systems are nourished by Qi, blood, body fluids and kidney essence – which are all manifestations of Yin and Yang.

When Yin and Yang are in balance life is harmonic and flourishes, however when this delicate dynamic of Yin and Yang is disturbed and either one becomes excessive or deficient dis-ease or emotional problems follow.
Acupuncture is the main healing method used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Healing is stimulated by very fine needles being placed at specific points along the energy pathways to regulate the movement of Qi within the energy channels and restore harmony between Yin and Yang. Only sterile, disposable, single use Acupuncture needles of excellent quality are used.

Acupuncture is often accompanied by Moxibustion and Cupping. Moxibustion is a very gentle warming technique that reinforces the healing of Acupuncture by heating the needle and transmitting its gentle healing warmth deep within the body.

Cupping is a method of relieving local congestion by applying a cup made of either glass, bamboo or plastic to create a partial vacuum that moves and relieves the congestion. Have a look at What To Expect.
